Jipped By Cans Greatest Hits Album Release Ad

In this second take I did some additional cleanup as suggested and also added a bit more contouring and shadowing. For fun, I also turned my photomontage into an album release poster with included quotes from our instructor and classmates.

It's kind of hard to see but the record logo is in the bottom right-hand corner. It's called 'Sunshine and Puppy Dogs Records,' a previous incarnation of Mario and Gina, original creators of Jipped By Cans.

The following are a few of the images used in the creation of this photomontage before edited and manipulated:

And for your viewing pleasure, here are some previous album covers for Jipped By Cans, created by Mario and Gina. Including newly released album, Short Bus.

Jipped By Cans

So, I know this album cover needs explaining. Jipped By Cans is a fictitious band made up by my wife and long time friend, Mario. She and Mario have been creating album covers featuring fake music for many years. Each song is based off of some gem of a quote from either overheard from others in public or randomly regurgitated by the two of them (mostly my wife, Gina) over the years. For example, Jipped By Cans last album cover from a few years ago featured the title 'Jamaican Sway,' based off of Gina's observation of a man's silly walk. She noted that he had, "a very Jamaican sway." Yeah, it makes no sense but that's the kind of nonsense that spews from the mind of my goofy ol' lady.

The truly sad thing about the creation of this fictitious band with no actual music, mind you, is that Mario has been approached and contacted through Myspace (Hey, remember Myspace?) for bookings and shows. There are so many real musical acts out there trying so hard to make it big and have a hard time booking anything, yet, Jipped By Cans could play some pretty impressive venues throughout New York state without even trying. Or even producing music!

This assignment afforded me the perfect opportunity to create 'Greatest Hits' album utilizing my new found lessons learned from Lynda.com and other tutorials recommended in our course. Each image within this photomontage represents a song featured on the album. Check out the back cover with the song list below to try and pair each image to it's song.
